At the same time as Northern United expanded its depth of resources to cater for more hockey players, it also expanded the scope of players whom it wished to represent.

For a significant period, club-members had wished to expand and develop women's role within the club. Although Tech Old Boys had enjoyed a relationship with the Tech Old Girls' Hockey Club
