Down - Wellington Player of the Year

Congratulations to the 1st XI Men's team centre half Grant Down upon being named Wellington's male player of the year at the WHA's recent annual awards night.

Grant has been an integral member of Northern United's premier men's team for a number of years, and has represented Wellington at senior level since 2000.

He had an exceptional National League with title-winning Wellington team at right half, and was rewarded by the New Zealand selectors with a place in this years trials for the 2007 squad.

Northern United has a fine history in this award category, with 1st XI and Wellington men's captain Jamie Schaefer winning in 2004.
