Women's Club Captain![]() |
Fiona (Fi) started playing for Northern in the 2006 season, before that she played in the Wairarapa and Palmerston North. Playing hockey since primary school age (6), Fi’s positions is a Forward (inner or wing) for the P2 women’s team. She enjoys “Having a great bunch of girls in the team” saying they “all get along really well.” An active Northern Committee member (women’s club captain), Fi also raves about the coach, saying “Jono (Mackey) is a huge asset to the P2 women's team, integrating skill and fitness progression, along with continual team development”. Best or worst on-field moment? Losing the promotion relegation game (for P1) at the end of the 2008 season to Hutt to a last minute PC in overtime " it hurt a lot. Why should people play for Northern? It’s a great club that encourages and supports you, with a great social aspect. Off the pitch Fi enjoys running, plays ultimate Frisbee, enjoy reading and hanging out with friends. |
